There's a guy and he likes to make beautiful bombs. Works of art. He gets a thrill when they blow up. Ho hum. This guy really isn't an interesting villain. The episode redeemed itself a bit when they discussed the idea that to get off this guy needs to escalate his involvement in the explosions, to become part of the chaos. I thought that was intriguing.

I was pretty unexcited for most of this episode. Seemed like it didn't take 40 minutes to tell this story and it felt like there was a lot of padding with triangulation of cell phone signals, which is totally thrilling (not). I'm not that interested in watching digital readouts and electronic gizmos. I prefer the more visceral and gory stuff in previous episodes.

There didn't seem to be any real psychic or supernatural stuff which Is also a shame. I like the show to offer more than just Something any Old crime show could cover. His Kids nightmares - is that a thing that'll come up again or am I imagining things ? I'll keep an eye on it.

One of the more forgettable episodes thus far

Warning: Spoilers
This episode is more conventional than those preceding it. It's more a generic manhunt-style story that might be found in a typical police procedural or a TV movie of the week. It's not bad, it's just not up to the caliber of the earlier episodes.

Frank Black pursues a mad bomber whose motives are pretty cookie-cutter: he enjoys the power over life and death the bombings give him, and he plans to pose as a hero helping out the victims in the aftermath and become famous.

There are some artistically interesting scenes of the bomber fantasizing about the explosions, and his, ahem, very passionate response to his handiwork (handled with tact and subtlety, but it's quite clear what he's doing), but those aside there isn't that much to make this episode stand out.

Catherine does overhear Black trying to goad the bomber over the phone, realizing just how twisted the criminals her husband deals with are, and how far he ventures into their minds, but that revelation has little immediate impact on their relationship.

Watchable, but not particularly memorable.

Watchable, not great.

Warning: Spoilers
If only all criminals wanted their names in lights, the world would be free of them. We don't get to know any of the victims and it's a villain that's here now and gone the next. 5-2-2-6-6-6 is elaborate and all, but I need more than this. Some sort of attempt to connect in the bar, only to be shutdown would of added perhaps a little empathy for the villain. Some shades of grey, not just black and white.
