That's for you tearing up my Yogi Berra card!
kapelusznik1818 October 2015
****SPOILERS**** Mike Hammer, Stacey Keach, is out to find his kidnapped god-daughter May Ling who's being held hostage and threaten to be offed, killed, if he doesn't get them this diamond that her boss diamond dealer Mel Hurock, who was killed by them. Hammer finds out that Mal's partner Jack Belson had the diamond all along and is willing to give it up to Mel's killers just to save May Ling's life.

With Hammer trying to make the switch, the diamond for May, he not only gets clobbered from behind but later after he recovers find's out that he didn't have the diamond, it was a fake, and May was still in the hands of her kidnappers! This leads to some soul searching on Hammer's part in feeling he was let down by his friend Belson who he suspects in being part of the gang of robber/kidnappers.

***SPOILERS*** The truth comes out that the diamond was needed as a secret component to a powerful atom smasher needed to, what else, smash atoms in order to make super nuclear bombs! But what's really shocking is that the murdered Mel Hurock, who as it turned out wasn't murdered at all, was the man behind all this and planning to sell the stone to the highest bidder the USSR Communist China or even Castro's Cuba! It was the shoes and the odor that goes along with them, the only thing that Hammer could go on, that Hurock was wearing to gave him away as well as him supposedly being cremated, so his body wouldn't be identified, after he was "murdered"! In Hurock claiming to be an Orthodox Jew working in the New York diamond district he should have known, which Hammer did, cremation is forbidden and against Orthodox Jewish religious principles!
