I'm a huge fan of this show and I really did love the episodes that were great and exceptional, but on the other hand when they were poor or absolutely terrible they'd really stink and this is one of the worst ones! It's all about Max and co journeying to a weirdly underdeveloped Medieval Times version of Ireland where all the accents are hilariously bad in their inaccuracy, and in fact the best bit of a genuine-sounding Irish accent actually comes from Max early in the story in a bit that I found pretty funny. Anyway, they've gotta put an immediate halt to the antics of a crazy cult of grungy old farmers who like to burn trespassers alive, wear dodgy-looking sinister cowls and ceaselessly chant "Fuath awaits" in an incredibly annoying and monotonous mantra, from bringing about the return of a gigantic Druid deity that they foolishly believe will obey only them and lead them to glory or something, and all it really ends up doing is stomping around like Godzilla for a while.. There were some things that I liked about this slow and dull episode, like the concept of the demon Fuath, which wasn't a creature of flesh and blood, but a sort of clockwork titan which until it comes to life, lied dormant as part of a Gothic castle. I did think the story picked up a lot when it got to the part where our heroes go inside the humongous stone gargoyle-like beast to try to find a way of destroying it from within. That part was a little reminiscent of "Jason and the Argonauts", with the only weak spot of Talon being on his ankle. The animation of all the giant gears and cogs inside was surprisingly intricate and the motion was smooth and very well detailed. It was an interesting and different idea for a monster, as well as one that wasn't based on anything from the toy-line, so it was good to see them attempting to do something original. It's only a shame that outside it's look was just really bland. Fuath looked a bit like a Skrull! And we never do see any Beggora.. It bugged me how sloppy and noticeable it was how the colour of the red-headed girl's father's eyes kept changing from blue to black. It's a pretty cool scene at the end when the girl stops Fuath by performing a wonder shot with his life orb that she sends down a well, and it made me laugh when she says how she learnt all about basketball from satellite TV! This one is fun enough I guess, but compared to the really awesome episodes it's downright boring. Even the few good one-liners can't really save it. But hey, if you love it that's cool, I don't have any problem with that, more power to ya! Not a favourite, movin on up! X
