Norman Lives!!!!!
This episode is fantastic, it's just one big prolonged fight, and never in my wildest dreams did I ever expect to see Norman vs Lion-O from Thundercats!!! The sort of, almost a villain of this episode, the Conqueror, is an awesome character, although he's definitely a tad on the strange and eccentric side, having the appearance of an armoured gladiator with a lion's head and a voice that I found a little corny, as he sounds so silly and melodramatic the way he constantly swears mid-combat upon the names of various Greek gods! And the end scene with him is so hysterically bizarre when the gruelling battle is finally over and it seems for a moment that he may not be such a brutal kind of beast after all as he kindly thanks Norman for freeing him from the eternal combat of the Dawning ritual by defeating him, and is so happy that he can finally join sweet humanity - only the nearby humanity flees in horror as he approaches and then his nasty and wrathful side comes back as he loses patience and angrily demands that the puny humans come back at once, 'lest he smash them!!! And while he's not the smartest or most compelling villain ever in the series, he's not unlike Norman in that he just lives to fight! And fight they do, with the extremely tough Conqueror dying twice during the epic skirmish! I loved all the details of his Roman-looking battle armour, especially the knuckle spikes. When the Conqueror says to Norman during their clash that "You cannot turn your back on destiny!" And Norman replies "I can try!", those two sentences are in a way a lot of the core concept of this show defined. During the scene of Max's summoning when he's watching what appears to be a cartoon that's a strange parody of Cyberskull, it's most humorous to see Virgil as a Transformer for a second! It's an odd turn of events for the Mighty One when he gets booted out of the action right away by Virgil because it's against the rules that he interfere in this most vital of contests, and he spends most of the episode having an adventure of his own as he travels through portals that lead to one dangerous location after another, just so he can make it back in time to hopefully help out the big guy who's helped him so many times before. My favourite part of that extended sequence is when he lands in the ocean at the mercy of a hungry shark and rides a nearby friendly dolphin to safety! It's a great Norman-centric episode as well, addressing the puzzling issue of his longevity, and he fights the hardest he ever has to pass the trials of the Conqueror and preserve his own life as well as to prove his worth and honour as a warrior. The action is excellently paced, and there is a phenomenal bit of voice acting from Richard Moll when Norman roars out his great victory to the heavens!!! The gravitas of the moment is quite over-the-top and kinda crazy, but it's still amazing. The whole concept of this episode and not just the character of the title, is based on the Battle Max action figure play-set "Mighty Max Defeats the Conqueror", and I think they did a terrific job of putting this one together. This is one of the most fun ones of the series. See ya folks! 🗡 🛡

shelbythuylinh2 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
In order to win for living another 10,000 years and how that he must face a conqueror with a lion's head and how that this conqueror is not really a bad person. Just has been mind controlled and wants to be free.

And join on humanity in return there. Norman does not want Max to intervene until the time is right even though Max wants to try as hard.

It is about not combating to the death but doing so to gain humanity and for Norman to live 10,000 years. Both must earn their respected destinies there. It is one of the very few times Max is urged not to interfere until the time is right.
