Debut of the Nighthawk
10 March 2014 | by (Toronto, Canada) – See all my reviews

Smarty-pants San Francisco cop Jack Killian (Gary Cole) goes into a deep depression after accidentally shooting his own partner dead. After months on leave he quits the force and becomes a talk radio show host at a station owned by bored socialite Devon King (Wendy Kilbourne).

After his show becomes popular a female serial killer (Jenny Wright) repeatedly calls in to the broadcast to confess she has been murdering men and tells Jack their destinies are intertwined. She stalks him and threatens to kill Devon leading to dangerous confrontations.

This dark beginning to an unlikely networks series showcases the strengths (cast & attention to story/character arcs as well as inventive framing devices) and weaknesses (weird premise, lack of coherent direction and proper pacing).

Gary Cole and Wendy Kilbourne have such great chemistry it is easy for some of us to overlook the flaws.
