Scientist Rowland Kennedy is eager to go to the moon and prove his theory that there is ice trapped in the caves that can be used as a water supply for colonists. However, when his son dies, Rowland hides the information from McCauley and continues on the expedition, obsessed with the idea of proving his theory.
