I'm a softy for these types of shows

In this enjoyable Christmas episode, McHale's crew is going to deliver gifts to a group of orphans on a nearby island that's run by a British lady named Pamela Parfrey (Anna Lee). The crew has decorated PT 73 and also stolen some turkeys from the mess hall so that the children will have a full Christmas dinner that evening.

It just so happens that a United Press War correspondent has arrived to do a story on the base and at first Binghamton wants the reporter there so that he can witness the court martial of McHale. But when the reporter hears that the men from PT 73 are going to make the day bright for some orphans, the story changes and also the reaction of Binghamton.

When the crew lands on the island with their gifts, they find that the Japs have beaten then to the area. Now Santa, McHale, is being held by the Japs as PT 73 pulls into the lagoon to start the Christmas party. They also have no idea that the Japs have them in the cross-hairs.

Anytime you have a holiday theme show with some orphans and the hope of goodwill, we all seem to turn into softies. And for me, this always brings out an emotion that has been a part of me since childhood. It was nice to see the ever-beautiful Anna Lee playing the school teacher as her acting ability always enhances any show were she appears. A nicely written script that was entertaining, even if politically incorrect at times, to watch. Good show.
