McCloud dons an eye patch to pose as Harry Hague, a drug dealer with a nasty switchblade, after Hague is presumed dead in a copter crash following a buy -- and gets himself thrown in jail to "deal" with a crime family interested in buying Hague's stash of cocaine. Features a great chase between McCloud (driving a garbage truck) and family patriarch Joseph Rhigas -- it's most of Victor Jory's part, in fact. Written by Peter Harris

Did You Know?

When McCloud, posing as Harry Hague, enters prison, he remarks: "Sorry fellows, but I'm booked up 'til '89." This seems to mean he went on trial, was convicted and received at least a 15-year prison sentence -- especially since one of the Rhigas brothers was busted with him and arrives in prison at the same time. Harry Hague gives McCloud a pouch filled with $1,000 bills. All bills over $100 were withdrawn from circulation in the late 1960's, which would have made possession of them useless. See more »

Rhigas Family Values
1 June 2015 | by (Buffalo, New York) – See all my reviews

This episode of McCloud has the visiting marshal from Taos, New Mexico becomes quite the globe trotter and living the high life in Paris, Beirut, and then at the Waldorf in Manhattan. It's all part of an undercover operation to take down the Rhigas family of gangsters. One son John Marley is already in prison, one son Joseph Campanella goes there and in the end family patriarch Victor Jory is the target.

But Chief Clifford has reason to be nervous. The NYPD is going through an austerity period and McCloud's high living has the bean counters making him nervous. Then when a million dollars to make a drug buy goes missing J.D. Cannon is about to have a stroke.

Of course it all works out in the end. And it wouldn't be a McCloud episode without the Chief's ulcer growing.
