Storyline

Beau & Bart fight to escape a black hole - where money and people enter, but can't leave! The cousins have to sleep sitting up in Stop Gap's only watering hole, after saving from robbers the treacherous Wembly, who promised them free, comfy hotel beds - but knew the inn was full-up. Wembly's suspiciously tight with the mining town's telegraph owner, son of a Colorado Senator. Why is the town too small to have a bank, as its population and wealth mysteriously expand to infinity - and beyond? Written by David Stevens

Last Wire From Stop Gap
29 January 2016 | by (Nashville, Tennessee) – See all my reviews

Bart and Beau team up to win $6000 only to be swindled by a phony telegraph company. Messages go no further than a nearby cave. Another Maverick is mentioned, Uncle Buck in Albuquerque, although he obviously does not exist. Olive Sturgess is Phyllis. There was a sameness about Maverick women. They dressed alike, had the same hairdo and were of an age group. That sharp clicking sound heard in the old westerns when one man hit another with his fist seems weird today. The first two seasons of Maverick were the best. When Roy Huggins, the show's creator, left because of pneumonia, both its writing and its ratings declined. Pappyism: "Hard work never hurt anyone - who didn't do it."
