Bret is robbed by The Kid and trails him to a poker game, but The Kid's just been killed. As the winners rake in The Kid's money, they ask newcomer Bret if The Kid (Edd Byrnes, Kookie on "77 Sunset Strip") was a friend. "No but the money was," Bret sighs. Bret spies an entrancing widow sobbing on a bench, gives her a ride, but she vanishes in the chilly dark, wearing the coat containing the remainder of Bart's money. White Rock's townspeople ridicule Bret's tale, because she died weeks before (June 1872). When the local undertaker takes a gunshot at him, Bret's determined to stay in town to investigate, because the undertaker was the specter's fiancé. Written by

Thank you, gentlemen. I'll give you a chance to get it back tomorrow.
I admire you, Mister. If I knew how to quit when I was ahead, I'd be a rich man.
You're ahead when you've won ten cents.

Bret helps Mary Shane, who supposedly died several days before. She is the "ghost rider." She leaves Bret and the buggy and disappears with Bret's coat and his $1000 bill pinned inside. Bret finds his coat and his money in a cemetery, and there is a gravestone with Mary's name on it. Bret calls on the undertaker, who was engaged to marry Mary. Bret follows him and is led to a rockslide. The undertaker is killed, and Bret is blamed. Lots of suspense and mystery! Bret returns to the rockslide to find Mary rummaging through the rocks. "The Kid" who robs Bret and is killed for cheating is Edd Byrnes. Kookie Byrnes starred in 77 Sunset Strip.
