Phillip And The Older Woman
Jimmy_the_Gent418 March 2020
Maude is happy Phillip has a new girlfriend Diane, but finds out she is 4 years older.

An OK episode with some amusing moments. Diane is played by Doney Oatman who was Felix's daughter Edna for a few episodes of "The Odd Couple". Funniest scenes are Walter's watch which has a picture of a duck and it quacks when the alarm is set.

A disturbing look at the past
bzbanks8 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I was 18 when this episode first aired, and took comedy like this as a genial look at relationships - but no more. Maude's 15 yo grandson is dating a 19 yo woman who prefers his company to the men who've molested her at college. Maude's husband thinks it's wonderful that Philip has attracted such a sexpot, and Maude tells the girl that fighting off attempted rape is just good, clean fun and that eventually she may meet a peer who respects her.

It's difficult to watch this episode of a sitcom considered "woke" for its time. No one ever brings up the fact that the college girl is considering committing a felony, no one addresses Walter's lechery, and when Philip finally rejects the girl it's because she admits she doesn't want to have sex yet, and considers him "safe".

The whole thing disgusts me.
