Pretty good episode. Mainly I wanted to comment on the character of Ed Wingate

Warning: Spoilers
Part one pretty much went over the whole kidnapping part and the resolve of that. That is the setup for part two.

I'll just say about Billy, he is a jerk. Most of the time I can be ok with him. I realize he's there for Ben(Andy Griffith) to play off his humor, and crankiness. But this time I thought he was a real jerk. And I don't even think he even has Stockholm syndrome. He's always jealous of Ben and has always treated him with a lot of resentment. So when the two kidnappers revealed they were really out to get Ben, he was all kinds of happy with that.

I could not stand the two kidnappers who kidnapped Billy. I wish they said what the sentence was. Their real target was Leanne. They were so careless with the gun and discharging. I realized the writers were trying to make them the humor part of the episodes. But I just thought they were ridiculous bozos. Besides, all I need is Ben for the humor, and AG is great at it.

I got such a kick out of Ed Wingate. He is exactly like Terrence Meyers from Murdoch Mysteries. Terrence is a government agent in Canada around the 1900s. They both act exactly the same with that stiff and staunch oddball persona. Their voices are even almost the same. Even the two actors look alike. It's surreal. Maybe Ed is Terrence's descendant. Lol. I just couldn't get over how alike these two are.

Anyway, a pretty decent episode. You kinda know who's behind everything. It's just the collusion part I wasn't quite sure of. 8/10.

Gets better...

While part 1 opened weak with a side of cringe, part 2 owns the prior awkwardness which allows for some old-style 60's spy comedy that puts a smile on my face - Wingate begins to grow on you. He starts to take the center stage so that as I hated him as a buffoon in part 1, now I'm rooting for him as a Get Smart meets Pink Panther meets 007 super-spy always ahead of things in part 2.

What throws you off in part 1 is that you're expecting a Matlock episode. But when you dismiss that expectation in part two, now you get an episode that is almost a side pilot for a spin off. I would love to see more of Agent Wingate!

This is now one of my favorites.
