Ben is defending an old client's son. For a difference, the trial is already started when the episode begins. They do little flashbacks later in order to fill in the initial murder that took place. Actually, they did a good job with that.
The problem for me was the suspect, Drew Carey. Yes, there was a character named that long before actual Drew Carey had his own sitcom. Anyway, this character was entitled and spoiled and escaped. He wouldn't shut up at his trial and kept interrupting. I liked the idea of them putting Ben in a different and frankly difficult situation. Actually, Ben was pretty funny dealing with all of this. But I could not stand that guy, Drew. Was he supposed to be cute? Like a cute rascally character? Well, he wasn't. Ben calls him spoiled and immature.
Drew got too much screen time, which is the problem. And frankly, the judge should have given him a more severe recommendation for punching out the bailiff. Escaping, I could understand the sentiment. But punching out the bailif...no.
Ben was great as always, but Drew was cringe-worthy. I thought of skipping the rest of the episode halfway through. He just seemed so entitled, rude, spoiled, and immature. Like he could do anything he wanted and didn't want to follow the law and didn't want to listen to Ben. 5/10.
