Trivia

"The Maltese Pigeon" extensively spoofs the Dashiell Hammett novel "The Maltese Falcon," written in the 1920s and filmed at least 3 times. Some obvious details are that Maureen O'Reilly is an analog of the novel's Bridget O'Shaughnessy, and Jasper Stoutman represents Casper Gutman. However, Noel Sphinx is a wholly original creation who does not resemble any character in the original story. See more »
