Lusty Sue Ann
Rrrobert24 November 2019
Funny episode focused on Sue Ann.

To evade the lusty Sue Ann, Lou sends Mary to a conference in Chicago in his place. Mary is horrified to discover she and Sue Ann have adjoining rooms there. Sue Ann insists on partying with whichever men she can round up and that Mary come along, however the only men Sue Ann can find are only interested in Mary.

This one effectively exploits Sue Ann's habit of switching from sweet to earthy in a second, and her vanity, pride, and lust characteristics.

One of my favorite Sue Ann episodes

Warning: Spoilers
In this episode, we see behind Sue Ann Nivens's saucy, bawdy facade. At a convention Mary and Sue Ann attend in Chicago, Sue Ann is constantly rejected by men. First, she phones the men at her former station, but they're are all "in a meeting," (even the janitor). Later, she spends the evening ignored and otherwise rejected by men at a morticians' convention who are interested only in Mary, who is there only as a favor to Sue Ann. When Sue Ann tries to make chocolate fondue, she breaks down and shares her pain and loneliness with practically-perfect Mary. We see Betty White's gifted ability to show the heart of a character while making us laugh.

Sue Ann Tries to Entertain the Troops
Hitchcoc21 February 2017
The newsroom can send one person to Chicago for a convention. When Lou finds out Sue Ann will be there, he defers to Mary. This makes Ted jealous. So Mary goes to Chicago and she and Sue Ann end up in adjoining rooms. It isn't long before the Happy Homemaker has found two middle aged men in the hall and put together an evening for them. It turns out they are morticians at a convention and the girls go out with them. The problem is that these two old operators are only interested in Mary. She is so uncomfortable and Sue Ann is steamed. There is something sort of sad about this whole thing. The last minute is really the only funny one in the show.

Mary Tyler Moore had an orgy!!
collegedude31 May 2017
This was a so-so episode, but the only real funny part was toward the very end where she told the people at the office that she had an orgy when she was on her trip with Sue Ann-which leaves everyone speechless, except Ted-who is fascinated and keeps asking Mary you're kidding right? Since MTM is hot, I was strangely turned on when she said that- haha. In any event, back in 1974 using the word orgy on t.v. was probably pretty controversial and racy-and as much as I had seen the MTM shows over the years, I never remember Mary saying that. I do remember in another MTM episode, Ted mentions having an orgy to Mary with Mary , but with "no whips and midgets"-but I think that was in an episode after this one. Not positive, but I think it was the episode entitled my three husbands or something like that, where Lou, Ted, and Murray each have their own fantasy about what it'd be like to be married to Mary and Ted's fantasy was the funniest, of course, and this is where he makes the orgy comment.
