When Mary starts to sit at a desk, the man next to her is Frank Adamo. This frequent bit player and extra was Dick Van Dyke's personal assistant, who made many appearances on "The Dick Van Dyke Show."
Ted starts his broadcast with: "Good evening Mr. & Mrs. Twin Cities. Let's go to press. Flash!" This parodies newspaper columnist radio broadcaster Walter Winchell's rapid-fire staccato greeting: "Good evening, Mr. & Mrs. America, from border to border, and coast to coast, and all the ships at sea. Let's go to press."
Nancy Walker (who played Rhoda's mother) directed this episode.
