In this seasonal episode, Peggy's morbidly obese mother (heard, but thankfully never seen) helps to pay for Christmas food, decorations and presents by working as a phone sex operator (going by the name of Butter), with Al's NO MA'AM pals as her unsuspecting customers. Griff, in particular, is infatuated with Butter, and even thinks of asking her out for a date. Peggy must take control of the 1-900 number in order to try and deter Griff, but she finds herself tempted by the man's amorous advances.
Just the mere thought of Peggy's mother as a sensuous temptress is enough to make me laugh (and Al heave), and this episode has no shortage of great gags (the funny kind, not the sort you have when you think you're going to hurl). Griff: "I think I'm in love." Al: "I think I'm about to blow gravy.", Peggy, responding to Griff's sweet talk: "I'll be there in half-an-hour.", Bud: "Even the dark, mossy side."
At the end of the episode, Butter reveals herself to Al's friends to their horror and disgust (fortunately, we are spared the hideous sight - -all we see is her immense shadow).
