- Maynard G. Krebs somehow acquires the ability to predict the future. With the Kennedy-Nixon presidential election only one week away, Chatsworth Osborne, Jr. persuades Maynard to appear on his mother's television station, KASH, to tell the world which candidate will win the election. In the end, Dobie convinces Maynard not to appear because it could taint the election. Instead, Maynard writes down his prediction and seals it inside an envelope. In the episode's epilogue, Dobie opens the sealed envelope, presumably the day after the election, to reveal Maynard's prediction. After examining Maynard's election prediction, Dobie glares at him and states, "You picked the WRONG one!" I believe this episode was aired only the one time and was not part of the syndication package.—D.G. Johnson
- In the class' discussion about psychic phenomena, most specifically extrasensory perception (ESP), educated, logical Mr. Pomfritt states that he doesn't believe in it, and that much of what people believe to be ESP is rather imperfect perception. Maynard, however, believes he has ESP and proceeds to demonstrate what looks to be exactly it, which Mr. Pomfritt cannot logically and scientifically explain as not. Maynard doesn't usually use his powers as he says it takes the fun out of life. Mrs. Osborne, who learns of Maynard's special powers, wants to get even richer off of them, initially by featuring him on a television show on her own station, that show which validates or debunks claims. Following that appearance and demonstration of his powers, Maynard is then to appear on network television the night before the election to announce who will be the next President of the United States, Kennedy or Nixon. Even though Dobie does believe in Maynard, he doesn't believe in what Mrs. Osborne has proposed as he feels it would ruin what makes America great. So Dobie tries to talk Maynard out of making the national television appearance at the risk of Maynard's probable fame and fortune, which is important to him having lived a life so far where he has constantly heard, "oh, it's only you, Maynard".—Huggo
