THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. – The Birds and the Bees Affair - 1966

This is the 47th episode of 1964 to 1968 spy series, THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. The series ran for a total of 105 episodes. The first season was filmed in black and with the remainder shot in colour. Robert Vaughn plays agent Napoleon Solo while David McCallum, plays Illya Kuryakin, Leo G Carroll plays Mister Waverly, the boss of the secret agency known as U.N.C.L.E. (United Network Command for Law & Enforcement) Their main enemy is THRUSH, an organization out to take over the planet.

UNCLE agents Robert Vaughn and David McCallum discover that the UNCLE operation in Geneva Switzerland has been wiped out. All the personal are dead from what appears to be Bee stings. It turns out that THRUSH has developed a strain of Killer Bees. They intend to use them to attack UNCLE headquarters in New York.

In charge of the THRUSH types is John McGiver. McGiver has a bug scientist, John Abbott working on the project. Abbott is a gambler who can't seem to shake his current losing streak. THRUSH is supplying him with cash for his work. They then send him to a THRUSH operated casino where Abbott loses it all back to THRUSH.

The bees are fed with a rare brand of honey that only one store in New York sells. UINCLE enlists the aid of the salesgirl, Ahna Capri in trying to track down McGiver's hidden THRUSH lair.

Agent McCallum and Miss Capri of course manage to get themselves captured by THRUSH. The two are subjected to a round of sound wave torture to extract the location of UNCLE headquarters. McCallum agrees to help McGiver in order to save Miss Capri. He leads McGiver on a long way around tour of the UNCLE air duct systems.

In the meantime, Robert Vaughn has rescued Capri and convinced Abbott he would be happier working for the good guys. They all head for UNCLE headquarters. Our man McCallum has managed to fool the THRUSH types into releasing the bees in the wrong place. They of course turn on McGiver and sting the swine to death.

This is an entertaining episode with everyone looking like they are having a good time.
