A MAN CALLED SHENANDOAH "Run, Killer, Run" 1966 This is episode 17 from the 1965-66 western series, A MAN CALLED SHENANDOAH. Robert Horton headlines as a man wandering the west looking for clues to his identity. Horton has suffered a memory loss after getting a head wound.
In this episode, Horton is working on a riverboat based out of Galveston Texas. He is in charge of loading and storing of cotton bales.
Also in Galveston is Sandy Kenyon. Kenyon runs a local hotel in town. He also knows Horton from several years before. Horton had been a witness to Kenyon stabbing to death, cattleman, Roy Barcroft.
Kenyon is worried that Horton will point out Kenyon out to the local law. He hires the wild-west version of a hit-man. The gunman, Leonard Nimoy, tells Kenyon he will take care of the problem for $200. Kenyon gladly coughs up the cash and points Nimoy to the docks where Horton works.
Horton is having other problems at the moment. A crewman on the riverboat, Charles Horvath, has taken a dislike to Horton. He comes at Horton with a knife but is handled swiftly by Horton and gets a beating for his trouble.
Also in the mix here is the riverboat owner, Sally Kellerman. Kellerman has taken a shine to Horton and is always putting the moves on Horton. Horton, just nicely brushes her aside. He is moving on again soon and does not want any entanglements.
That evening as Horton is checking the last of the cargo, Nimoy jumps him. Nimoy slips a piece of rope around Horton's neck as he is going for a silent kill. The two take a tumble down a flight of stairs as Horton resists. There is now a general free for all during which Horton manages to grab a cargo hook. He guts Nimoy with the hook and badly wounds him. He questions Nimoy as to why the attack? Nimoy however passes out from the pain.
Horton calls out and is soon joined by Kellerman and several of the boat crew. They carry Nimoy to the doctor's office. The doc, James Seay, does what he can but says it will be a miracle if Nimoy sees dawn. Horton and Kellerman grab some chairs in the waiting area. Horton has no intention on leaving.
Several hours later, Horton and Kellerman have both nodded off to sleep. Kenyon enters through the back door and smothers Nimoy. Kenyon does not want Nimoy talking if he revives. Kellerman hears Kenyon and comes for a look. Kenyon now goes for our girl Sally. She puts up a struggle that wakes up Horton. Guns are produced and Kenyon is killed in the disagreement.
Horton has no idea who Kenyon is, or why he killed Nimoy. The next day, Kellerman and the riverboat leave in one direction while Horton rides the other.
The director here is veteran B-film helmsman, Nathan Juran.
