It's pancake day and King John, peeved that he is not recognized in Worksop, charges the sheriff to invent something to commemorate him. The sheriff devises a game called John, in which balls placed on a table must be potted but the balls keep rolling off so the sheriff and his men go to Lincoln to buy green felt to steady them. On the way back they are ambushed by the Merry Men who give them pancakes but take the green cloth in payment to make uniforms for themselves. John loses interest in the game and allows it to be called after a local peasant, Snooker. Written by

Did You Know?
I know how to make pancakes. I'd have got my pancake proficiency badge if my Brownie pack hadn't been closed down for armed robbery.
