No Magnum only Higgins
4 June 2012 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

An episode that celebrates John Hillerman's character and provides a nice homage to Holmes. At the funeral of a fellow Brit, Patrick Macnee appears as an old friend of Higgins' from their days at Sandhurst. Macnee, David Worth, believes himself to be Sherlock Holmes and has arrived because their friend just didn't die; he was murdered. Unfortunately for Higgins, his old friend Worth who was a double agent for the British in Russia for almost thirty years has become insane and actually believes himself Holmes. While he and Higgins, his somewhat reluctant Watson, try to solve the death of their friend they find themselves pursued by MI-6 who are concerned that Worth might be captured and are also pursued by those who murdered their friend. Macnee does a great job as the redoubtable Holmes, and Hillerman does a great job of a man torn by conflict, loyalty to old friend and to his country. The ending is bittersweet but this episode is one of the best of the series.
