Great way to end season 5 of Magnum. With Magnum spending a large part of the episode in jail, I have the impression his screen time was cut down a bit, giving more time and interactions to the rest of the gang as a whole ("the rest of the gang" meaning Higgins, TC, Rick, Carol and uncle Jack) . This makes the episode feel more like a group effort than might usually be the case and it really works, although it means you might have to pay extra attention to keep track of all the details.
Speaking of uncle Jack, I think Matt Clark is outstanding here. He has a pretty sinister look, with the cadaverous features and very intense stare, which initially made me think he was going to be revealed as the Big Bad. But by halfway through, I was feeling his pain and wondering how his daughter could have treated him so badly. To be honest, I was still wondering that at the end. Was his coming to all her shows at school such a terrible thing that she was willing to become an international arms dealer (stolen arms at that - an even worse idea!) to gain her "independence" from him. Even for a 17-year-old, that's pretty extreme. No more possible reasons are given, so we'll never know.
