Did You Know?

When Sam reads to Mac what is written on the sheet of paper the date is written "40.10.11" which is not usual in German language. The correct date would be "DD.MM.(YY)YY" and if there should be a painting by that name it would not be "die Hügeln von Antwerp", it would be correctly "Die Hügel von Antwerp/Antwerpen". Antwerpen is german, Antwerp is flamish/dutch. Maybe the title at that time would use the flamish/dutch name Antwerp. Also in the 1940's the style to write the letters was quite different from the way they are written on the paper. Also the quotation mark before "Die Hügel.." would look like ",," not like "''", since in German they are in a low position at the start of a quote. See more »

MacGyver: Hi, Pete.
Pete Thornton: MacGyver, you look terrific. You should wear a tux more often.
MacGyver: Strictly camouflage. Long as I have to be here, I might as well blend in.

Sam was from Israel-he was an Israeli Jew and the actor himself was born in Israel, so he was not supposed to be German, but a Jewish man from Israel whose painting was stolen by the Nazis during WWII.

This was a great episode with awesome casting--always some humor thrown in by MacGyver even during tense situations. The recreating of the gas chamber caused chills because I had some relatives who were in concentration camps.

All in all a really good episode, and one that could actually play out even in present day America. Hatred runs rampant and there are those who think they are superior to others.
