Nurse Edwina 'Eddie' Ferguson
Linda Meiklejohn ...

Edwina "Eddie" Ferguson, R.N. is equal parts nerves, calamity and klutz. Around a guy, Eddie is all thumbs; he would need a suit of armor to escape unscathed. A few weeks before Eddie ships home, the 4077 gang throws a surprise party to celebrate her 28th birthday; she confides to Margie Cutler she is still virgo intacta. Radar overhears the nurses plotting in the ladies' showers: if one of the guys does not step up to the plate and/or bite the proverbial bullet, the girls will insure there is no action at the brickyard for the foreseeable future. Henry and the guys decide they should all draw straws to choose the date for Edwina. Old Ferret Face says he wants no part of the "unholy confluence," but the penalty for sitting out is being stripped naked, painted purple and dropped by helicopter behind enemy lines. No one is more delighted than Frank when Hawkeye draws the short straw. The great lover of the 4077 is about to meet his match. Will Hawkeye survive a date with Edwina...and ... Written by LA-Lawyer

When Henry is giving a speech during eddies birthday party, Hawkeye cuts him off by singing. In many episodes, Hawkeye always cuts off Henry before his speech is done. See more »

Throughout the scene where Eddie and Hawkeye are on a date in his tent, the stove pipe appears seamless, as if one long pipe. Just after they kiss, Eddie gets up off the cot and walks toward the camera. You can now see a "seam" on the pipe where it detaches when Eddie puts her hands on it and pushes it over hitting Hawkeye on the head and emptying soot over him and the cot. See more »

Eddie and the Libido
22 February 2015 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

The doctors on this series are frequently portrayed as having no control over their sex drives. It's as if the nurses are in constant danger, like a pack of stud mares and that these guys have a right to do what they want, when they want. When a nurse named Edwina points out that she has never been with a man and that she is about to go home, her compadres decide to hold a sex strike until "Eddie" gets a date. She is certainly attractive enough, but she has the well founded reputation of being a walking disaster area. The men call a meeting and Hawkeye gets the short straw (pretty condescending and politically incorrect by today's standards and for a show that portrayed liberal values). When the two finally get together, it is really hilarious. No matter what they do, it falls apart. She breaks some glasses and Hawkeye steps on the glass. She almost breaks his jaw when she stands up quickly when they are dancing. She knocks over a stove pipe and it hits him in the head and covers him with soot. Everything is pretty much wrapped up in a nice ribbon. They did learn a lot as the series continued and that's good.
