That voice
Ep 2 of the sixth and final series of Lovejoy is a rollicking good time.

Psycho Max Hunter is out of jail and seeking revenge on Lovejoy. In order to lure him into a trap where he will presumably meet his demise, Hunter first kidnaps Charlotte. Then he starts leaving clues - in the form of riddles - all across East Anglia.

He's a piece of work, this one.

But the best part is how, in his first scenes, Hunter's identify is mostly concealed. We hear his distinctive voice. And then we see him in extreme closeup, with that unique nose in profile. It took me a while but finally, yes, that's Geoffrey from The Lion in Winter. The movie where John Castle goes toe-to-toe with acting luminaries Peter O'Toole, Katherine Hepburn, Anthony Hopkins, and Timothy Dalton.

Once again Beth is put to full use, unlike in Series 5. And Tinker is, as usual, an integral part of the plot.

What a treat. Lots of fun. And a solid crime mystery.
