LOVE BOAT Episode with Lilli PALMER
ZeddaZogenau22 March 2024
Lilli PALMER (1914-1986) was a great actress who appeared in numerous films (GOLDEN GLOBE nomination in 1960 for BUT NOT FOR ME). Whether in Hollywood, Paris, London (BAFTA AWARD nominee in 1958 for ANASTASIA, THE LAST TSAR'S DAUGHTER) or in West German cinema - the diva, who was married to Rex HARRISON and Carlos THOPMSON, caused a stir everywhere.

She was also not above television (GOLDEN GLOBE nomination for the mini-series PETER THE GREAT). And so it happens that she can be seen as an English writer in a double episode (Season 8, Episodes 11 and 12) of the irrelevant US series LOVE BOAT (which became the model for DREAM SHIP on the West German television station ZDF). By the way, their daughter is played by Ana ALICIA, who was popular worldwide in those years for her role as Melissa Aggretti in FALCON CREST. In LOVE BOAT there is a nice scene with PALMER and ALICIA when they are both in London's Hyde Park at Speakers Corner.

The double episode was first broadcast in 1984 and was only shown on West German private television after PALMER's death.

A Sail of Two Cities
WalterKafka1 May 2024
Warning: Spoilers
"A Sail of Two Cities." Oh har har. We're starting in a restaurant in Los Angeles, where the crew is having dinner. The Captain has brought them to announce that they're going to Europe again. This time it'll be Paris and London. Colleen has brought her son on the ship. Only she won't tell him why. Son wants to be an actor. Loretta Swit is back from the very first season. She looks, uh, different. She accuses her husband of having a 'roving eye.' Judy has eyes for hunky Marc Singer. It turns out - he's her ex-husband. Marc is eager to get back with her. A famous novelist employs her daughter to answer fan letters. She's got eyes for a man. He's a restorer of art. Peter Barton is famous for hurting himself on film sets. That's quite a head of hair that he's got. I mean, Colleen Dewhurt was in Annie Hall. Her acting here is really some of the best we've ever gotten on the show. Of course, I don't watch The Love Boat for fine, nuanced acting. See you in part 2.
