First acting credit (where she plays a scripted character) for Shelley Long. Interestingly, she plays a bookish intellectual who is mismatched with a vain narcissist (named Sam) who can't appreciate her for who she is. The same situation would later make her famous fours years later on the TV show Cheers (1982). See more »

A Matchmaker Tries To Gain Access With Julie
24 August 2015 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

"Memories of You / Computerman / Parlez Vous?" is the 20th episode during the first season of The Love Boat. Guest stars include Frankie Avalon, Shelley Long, Patty Duke, Barbi Benton, Leslie Nielsen, Ricky Nelson and Jamie Farr.

A computer was used by the matchmaker to pair up the guest in the cruise. Also,we get to see Julie manipulated by the matchmaker to pair himself with him. Also,we get to see American gold-diggers pretend to be French nationals. Finally,a New York ad executive gets reunited with a long lost lover.

Only one story lights us in this rather dull episode particularly the matchmaker who tries to manipulate the computer pairings to gain access with Julie. But watching it at present time,it would not be as entertaining considering that computers back in the day were truly obsolete and it won't hold up almost 40 years after.
