Between gaining the Midas Touch and converting a flower into platinum and before discovering at the dinner table that this curse will prevent him from eating (as all his food will also turn to precious metal), several scenes pass in which he touches objects that fail to convert. These objects that do not convert include a sandwich, the chair in which he sits at the law enforcement officer's camp, the officer's hand, Ohan during a fight, and Smith's own backside.
At first, Smith consults the small button-like device to seek advice about its purpose and source of its value. Despite dropping and abandoning it near a rock outcrop, Smith is later able to seek its advice and hears its voice again when sitting, prepared for death through the curse of the Midas Touch.
Properties of the force field vary between episodes. In this episode, Maureen turns the force field off so Ohan can leave the ship. In at least one previous episode, it seemed people could pass out from it rather than penetrate back in.
While Dr Smith and Bolix are waiting for Ohan to appear near the Robinson's campsite, they are waiting in front of a big rock. As Bolix is sitting back behind Dr Smith, Dr Smith is about a head taller. When the camera shot changes to a close-up, they are at the same height, looking eye to eye.
To an unqualified eye, silver, aluminum foil and countless other metals would look the same as platinum, yet all the characters immediately recognize it to be platinum, the most unlikely of metals.
Very early on Maureen shoots a ray gun at two monsters, one ray beam hits each monster. It's obvious that one monster was supposed to receive both hits because one monster doesn't react at all and the second one reacts to both ray beams even though only the second one strikes it.
The ring is seen as solid metal until it is worn by Dr. Smith when it can be seen as flexible like rubber when Dr. Smith talks.
When Dr. Smith finds the flashing box, the electric cord running to it is visible.
How can the Robinson family be "lost in space" if they have access to a Galactic Policeman? Why do they not ask him where they are and why does he not help them go home, even if only by sending out a message to someone who can actively help?
The voiceover narration at the very beginning of the episode identifies Dr. Smith as "Professor Smith."
