Storyline

In the last few months, there have been eleven burglaries at Bel Gardens, an upscale apartment complex, the latest the first where there has been a fatality, the victim Albert Duval, the resident being robbed. Mike figures that the burglars are either led or assisted by someone on the inside, namely a tenant. Duke is not enthralled with Mike's plan if only because of the cost: that he and Nikki go undercover as new residents, husband and wife Edgar and Edna Elliott, they who are to be as ostentatious as possible to be too big a lure for that tenant. A twelfth burglary occurs during the welcome party Mike and Nikki hold for all the tenants of the building, which does not rule out the involvement of anyone who attended the party, or even any of the victims. The party confuses the matter if only because Mike senses that all the tenants individually are hiding something in order to maintain the façade of wealth. Mike figures that another party, that given by Albert's widow, Lydia Duval, ... Written by Huggo

Mike and Nikki go undercover
6 May 2013 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

Mr. And Mrs. Duval, a loving couple who have been married for many decades, have just returned to their apartment from a night at the opera. When the husband answers the doorbell he is shot to death. It seems there have been a number of thefts at this luxury apartment building. All of the wealthy residents who had been robbed had insurance with the Great Pacific Insurance Company so Longstreet comes up with the plan that he and Nikki, posing as a wealthy married couple, will take an apartment in the building; a scheme that Paige reluctantly supports. Once in the apartment, they begin to throw a lot of money around as a ploy to entice the thieves to rob them. In this episode Mike, after practicing at a gun range, decides that he will start carrying a gun, a decision that later allows Mike to capture the killer. Paige is skeptical about the idea of Mike carrying a gun. I am too, it's just a bit too much that a blind man would find it useful, or safe, to be toting a gun. One of the highlights of the episode was Josephine Hutchinson as Mrs. Duval. She was one of the solid character actors (one of those "I recognize the face but can't remember the name" actors) who always add value to any show they're in.
