Have Your Cake And Eat It Too!

About halfway through the first season, Gerald Mohr's opening narration was no longer heard. It began, "this is the story of one of the most mysterious characters ever to appear in the early days of the west. He was a fabulous individual..." in this one, escaped convict Flint Foster forces his brother Roy and Roy's wife Edie to hide him out at their ranch. Roy and Edie have $1,000 in cash and Edie cleverly hides it in the cake she's baking. When Flint finds out about the money, he's determined to have it. But with the Lone Ranger and Tonto hot on his trail, he would probably be better off skedaddling for the hills! Gail Davis plays Edie. She was four LR episodes along with numerous Gene Autry TV show episodes and B-western movies. From 1954-1957, Gail starred in her own Annie Oakley TV series, produced by Gene Autry's Flying A Production Company. It would be great to see those old episodes again!

It takes the cake

In this episode, a bank robber and murderer has broken out of prison, killing two men in the process. The Lone Ranger hears and believes that he will try to go to his brother's ranch and give them trouble. Unfortunately, the brother fears the LR is with the outlaw and turns him away with a gun. Then after the outlaw arrives at his brother's house, he threatens their life when the LR and sheriff come to warn him.

There is a lot of money at the house, waiting to be taken to the bank to pay off the note. The wife hides it, and it's not too hard to figure out where when a lot of emphasis is put on the cake that's baking in the oven. There is, what I see as a mistake when The Lone Ranger takes the cake out of oven with what I assume are leather gloves. He holds it without any trouble to his gloves or his hands getting hurt. Only a couple minutes later, the outlaw holds it with his bare hands.

2 people assumed dead.
