Trivia

The title refers to a music production technique for pop and rock music recordings developed by record producer Phil Spector at Gold Star Studios during the 1960's. A dense, layered, and reverberant sound that reproduced well on AM radio and jukeboxes popular in the era used electric and acoustic guitarists performing in unison and then recording the sound using an echo chamber. Quotes

Lois Lane: So, how did I rate as a date?
Clark Kent: Oh, A+.
Lois Lane: I hung on your arm decoratively.
Clark Kent: You did.
Lois Lane: Fawned appropriately.
Clark Kent: Absolutely.
Lois Lane: And just faded into the background during your big moment.
Clark Kent: You were beautiful, yet invisible.
Lois Lane: Mmm, make me go through another night like that, and I'll rip out your spleen.

A fine episode, even if Lois is a little annoying
16 November 2015 | by See all my reviews

This episode had a potentially interesting sub-conflict of Clark being nominated for an award that Lois is usually nominated for, and a fun concept for villain. But on the whole, nothing really stood out about this one, to be honest. It was certainly good overall, it just...didn't really grab me in any way.

It did serve to demonstrate why Lois isn't my favorite character, though! She's REALLY petty and upset about not be nominated. It just seems to exemplify her self-centered tendencies. Not saying I hate Lois or anything, and on the other hand, she did kick some people's butts in this episode, which was really cool to see!

Also, while it feels like this episode gave a little bit of attention to Jimmy and Superman, it still wasn't quite enough. It looked like Jimmy was really on to something for a while there, and it would've been cool to see him be a major player for once and not just somebody who just drops in to tell Clark and Lois some interesting fact and doesn't do much else. And Superman...yeah, this show doesn't really have enough of Clark's Super side from what I've seen so far, and this is coming from a HUGE fan of the mild-mannered reporter identity.

Overall, a good episode that just wasn't THAT interesting to me. Maybe it focused too much on the annoying Lois for my tastes, but then again, I loved Requiem for a Superhero, so go figure, right? Maybe the real problem is that I just don't feel like Clark did anything particularly unique or special in this episode. Or maybe the conflict just wasn't quite interesting enough. Oh well. It was still pretty good overall, I guess.
