Unless more time has passed why are the fake government going after both L&C since by the 2nd episode only Lois interacted with SM, so why are they going after Clark too?

The arrival of Superman seemed to make some people (like Lois Lane) happy and others less so. Like the secret government taskforce that is investigating Superman's origins and whether he is the beginning of an alien invasion. They raid the Daily Planet offices and hook Lois and Clark up to lie detectors, convinced that one of both of them know where Superman is and can contact him - maybe even telepathically. Obviously, this puts Clark in a spot of bother, yet he manages to find his way out of that jam, and a more serious one on an aeroplane later in the episode.
A good episode that delves into Clark's origins, and the first time that Krypton is mentioned on L&C.
