Storyline

Episode is also called "In Harmony"

This episode deals with the simple things of friendship and harmony in the diversity of the underwater realm. Also, it introduces us to the Manta, whom I think is the best villain of the animated series.

The episode starts with Ariel and Flounder seeing off Triton, Sebastian and Urchin as they leave to watch a turtle race elsewhere. Left to their own devices, Ariel immediately drags Flounder to explore a dormant volcano outside Atlantica. There, they suddenly hear a voice, small and helpless, asking for help from inside the volcano. Though Flounder thinks it's a bad idea, Ariel lets it out, only to find that the small creature was in fact a giant Manta, who thanks her with a wicked chuckle before heading for Atlantica.

It's all in the song, "In Harmony, In Harmony"
24 September 2009 | by (United Kingdom) – See all my reviews

What a wonderful episode. The animation is beautiful, and the dialogue, especially that of the villain the Evil Manta, is great. I adore the song in Harmony it is such an uplifting catchy song, and Jodi Benson, who is such a talented singing actress, sang it with such energy and enthusiasm, the whole thing is well worth seeing just for that particular song. However, there is another reason why I love this episode so much, is because my favourite "Little Mermaid" villain The Evil Manta is in it. The Evil Manta is such a creepy and convincing villain, his laugh is enough to give you goosebumps, and who'd better to do it than the wonderful, severely underrated Tim Curry? It was a superb vocal performance, scary sounding and malevolent. Curry was perfect voicing him, and sorry guys but absolutely nobody else could voice The Evil Manta better than Curry did. He gets the nickname of "the god of voice acting" in my eyes, though Tony Jay was great, and never got the recognition he deserved either. All in all, brilliant! 10/10 Bethany Cox
