Laura and Andy find a Mama in a trap and two pups nearby. They take the "dogs" home, only to find out they are wolves. At the same time, some dogs that used to be pets but were released to the wild have gotten really wild and have been attacking some livestock in town. Charles and Caroline have gone out of town and Mary is left in charge of Laura and Carrie. She is under stress so she is a little too bossy and Laura runs to her tree house as often as possible or hangs out with Andy. They overhear that Jud Larabee (whose livestock was attacked) knows about their wolves and thinking they are responsible is going to come and kill the wolves. So, Laura and Andy move the wolves to Laura's barn. While out there, Carrie and Mary hear the dogs coming and they all go to the barn and end up trapped in the loft because the dogs burrow under the door and get in. The local farmers come to the rescue and kill the dogs and find out that the mama wolf actually saved Andy's life! Written by Anonymous

Mary, Laura, Carrie and Andy are in the barn for hours until Laura asks if they can leave. Mary says "It's too dark outside". Not even 5 minutes pass and there is a clip of the dogs (wolves) with the sun shining. See more »

Jonathan Garvey: [Holds up an iron skillet] Well, I'm still recommending this one.
Harriet Oleson: Seems a little expensive, ma'am.
Jonathan Garvey: Quality doesn't come cheap, Mr. Garvey. Now look at the workman ship of this, I mean I can see my reflection in it.
Harriet Oleson: Well, I don't need one to look in. I need one to cook in.

Cool episode!
22 June 2013 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

This is where we really get to know the Garvey family, who will be part of the show until the Blind School burns down and those left alive leave Walnut Grove (not going to say who's left...) In this episode, Andy Garvey and Laura befriend a dog and her pups after she's trapped. But everyone informs them that the dog is wolf, and no they cannot keep them!

We also see that Mr. Larabee, who I think is seen in other episodes, is a mortal enemy to Jonathan Garvey. He is actually right about the wolves, but he has ever intention of killing the wolves purposely kept alive...It looks like there may be a duel about to happen.,..But this is Walnut Grove, not Bonanza.

the girls have to fend for themselves since ma and Pa are both out of town. Mary is a bit bossy, but they all pull together at the end to fight off their wolves.
