There's an interest in building a railroad spur through Walnut Grove. The citizens are excited, that is until they decide they'll have to take John and Almanzo's farms in order to do so. Neither man wants to sell, so things get violent.

Before they found out farms were in jeopardy, Almanzo and Isiah had high hopes for the mill. After all, the railroad would need a lot of lumber. But that was hot down.

Things turned violent after John refused to sell his farm. His was beaten and because Sarah had to get him to Dr. Baker's, the railroad tycoons were able to take over the farm. Fortunately, Almanzo was able to come up with a solution - and the women even helped in the planning!

Though they were able to win against the railroad this time, a time will soon comes when that's not the case. But before the railroad takes the entire town of Walnut Grove, the citizens let their voices be heard.

By the way, Jenny is not in this episode. When Laura and Almanzo are talking, he wanted Laura and the baby to go into town - nothing was even mentioned about Jenny. Strange...
