Storyline

Bird lover Waldo Bryan leaves behind his big city art career to live in the country. His wife, Adele, has turned hateful, angry that he made her give up the city life. To get even, she lets Waldo's beloved parakeet out of it's cage to be killed by her cat. The birds outside seem to know of Adele's evil deed and turn on her, turning her into the caged one. Waldo Bryan (John Forsyth), a big city illustrator noted for his bird portraits, gives up commercial work and moves to the country to be closer to his pet subject much to the displeasure of his greedy wife, Adele (Constance Dowling). To get Bryan to rethink his decision, the sadistic Adele kills a few of his feathered friends and an ironic revenge begins to take wing...

A dozen years before Alfred Hitchcock's THE BIRDS, this tale takes a look at what happens when Nature has had enough of man and mention is made of "the meek inheriting the earth". Constance Dowling, sister of THE BLUE DAHLIA's Doris Dowling, makes a slinky femme fatale with her platinum "Barbara Stanwyck/Double Indemnity" bob and black cat. LIGHTS OUT aired on NBC and was brought to you by Admiral TVs and appliances.
