The Slave
29 November 2014 | by (North America) – See all my reviews

James "Grizzly" Adams(Dan Haggerty) meets a runaway slave named Isaac(played by Roger E. Mosely) who is desperately trying to make a bid for freedom. Mad Jack(Denver Pyle) is concerned that Isaac's master will come looking for him, and Nakoma(Don Shanks) is confused because he has never seen someone with black skin before. When the master does indeed show up looking for Isaac, it will be up to Adams to either persuade the man to let Isaac go, or just help Isaac get away, even if it endangers his own freedom... Poignant episode takes on a provocative subject with care and understanding, with a fine performance by Mosely and a surprising fate for the master that likely wouldn't be done today.
