Wyatt Earp is returning from official business down by the border when he meets Morgan's fiancée Ruthie on the road but she not only ignores him but is mad at him telling Wyatt that she and Morgan have broken up. In Tombstone he finds Virgil waiting for him with the news that Morgan has taken up gambling. Wyatt initially blows it off as gambling is so common; only interested in how much Morgan has lost. However, Morgan is on a winning streak of $10,000 and a diamond ring. Doc Holliday says it started with a streak of luck with him. Morgan gives up his deputy job with plans to have his own casino. Wyatt decides to bring in a card mechanic friend Ace Hudson from Dodge City to break the streak. Ace arrives and agrees to break Morgan for ten percent of what he wins. They make up a story that Virgil lost his ranch to Ace which pushes Morgan to enter a game with Ace and two other men. In an hour Morgan is cleaned out but where is Ace and his two friends? Tombstone in the 1880s was a city where gambling flourished. Fortunes were won and lost on the turn of a card. While all this was legal, there were times when a gambler became a problem for Marshal Wyatt Earp.
