Mr. Cousin brings an exhausted girl he found to Dodge City. After taking her to Dr. McCarty who says she needs rest, she is turned over to Mrs. Bates who runs the Traveler's Society to help people. The girl refuses to tell Mrs. Bates who she is or where she is from. However, she is willing to talk to Earp alone although she has little trust in men. She is Cathy Prentice who was adopted by Mom Prentice and lives with her and her sons at Prentice Tavern which is a saloon and hotel at a remote site. Mom has promised her son Todd that Cathy will marry him. Earp investigates the place deciding it is unfit for Cathy and the family is abusive. Mrs. Bates and Mayor Kelley are more worried about the society and city being sued by her family. Earp takes her away from Mrs. Bates who wants her returned to the family while he tries to find Norman Davis a cowhand who was interested in marrying Cathy. Earp only has a couple of options left which may result in him marrying Cathy. Written by Anonymous
