Storyline

In Tombstone Mayor John P. Clum runs the only honest newspaper and source of news. Old Man Clanton is afraid someone in Washington may see a copy and learn the truth. He orders Sheriff Johnny Behan to run Clum out of town. They start by turning over Clum's wagon and trying to destroy his newspapers pushing Clum to attack Dameron of The Nugget but Earp breaks up the fight. He tells Clum his temper is going to get him into trouble. Behan then hires two goons to break into the paper and bust up the press but Clum sets a trap for them and again Earp stops the fight. Earp receives news from Doc Holliday that Behan may have someone attack Clum on the stage as he goes to meet his wife. Earp has Clum leave the stage at the first water stop with the hope he can stop the stage holdup but he is too late. Clum's temper gets him into serious trouble due to a libel suit with Earp his only hope to prove the truth. Written by Anonymous

Quotes

Wyatt Earp: [Opening Narration] John P. Clum, Mayor of Tombstone and editor of one of its newspapers, paid in many ways for his support of Marshal Wyatt Earp and his courageous stand against Sheriff Behan and the outlaw faction. Present day newspapermen have little understanding of what it took to run an honest newspaper in Tombstone, Arizona in 1881. Powerful politicians were determined to ruin Clum, force him to sell his paper, and if these tactics failed - kill him.
