Horse owner Milt Canyon owns the fastest horse around and has beaten every horse who has challenged his. Bullhead and braves from the Cheyenne tribe have illegally left the reservation to race an Indian pony against Canyon's horse. Canyon puts up considerable gold against horses and skins owned by the Indians. Shotgun tells Earp about the race which concerns Earp. He decides to allow the race and stays to ensure it is run fairly. The Indian pony wins so Canyon reluctantly pays off when Earp orders him to pay. After Earp and Shotgun leave, Canyon tries to force Bullhead to sell him the pony as he must have the fastest horse but Bullhead refuses. Canyon shoots him in the back so Bullhead stabs Canyon to stop him. There are no witnesses but the Indian braves. A mob wants to go after them but Earp says he will go alone. He finds Bullhead shot in the back and removes the bullet. He tells both Bullhead and Little Elk that Bullhead must return for a trial to keep the peace. Earp gives them four days as he is forced to hold back a mob who want a lynching. If Bullhead returns, what type of justice will he receive?
