Storyline

Eddie tells Wally and Beaver that he has a new girl named Caroline Cunningham. Wally's never heard of her. Even though Eddie takes Wally over to Caroline's house, Wally is suspicious that Eddie doesn't really even know her, especially as Eddie refuses to ring the doorbell while there. But Mrs. Cunningham hears them talking outside and invites them in. When Caroline comes to meet them, it is obvious that Eddie and Caroline have not formally met - although she does recognize him - and that Caroline has no interest whatsoever in Eddie. But Wally still believes she's Eddie's girl. So Wally is surprised when Caroline later calls him. Unable to get over the awkward boy/girl issues of their age, Mrs. Cunningham and June arrange a date between Caroline and Wally to a country club dance the following day without Wally's knowledge. Will Wally go out with Caroline and if so, is it a friendship breaker between him and Eddie if Eddie finds out? Written by Huggo

Quotes

Eddie Haskell: Hello, Mrs Cleaver, may I come in?
June Cleaver: Oh, sure, Eddie, come on.
Eddie Haskell: Is Wally home?
June Cleaver: Yes, he's up in his room.
Eddie Haskell: I can only see him for a minute, because I have to go over and see my girl.
June Cleaver: Well, he's up in his room.
Eddie Haskell: Uh, when you have a girl, you can't spend all your time with the fellas. You have to spend some time with your girl.
June Cleaver: Oh, you have a girl, Eddie?
Eddie Haskell: Oh, yes. She goes away to boarding school. My father says that's a pretty good indication her family has money. My father says it doesn't pay to ...

Eddie's MAKE-BELIEVE Girlfriend
27 November 2006 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

Eddie Haskell makes his second season debut, coming over to the Cleaver house and announcing to June he has a girlfriend....and that his parents say "she must have some money." June isn't impressed and sends him upstairs to see Wally. Eddie then brags that she's some private-school girl, high society and all that, and then asks Wally if he wants to go over to her house with him. He says okay, but when they get there it's obvious the girl doesn't know him, that this is Eddie's make-believe girlfriend. It's a short and awkward stay at the girl's house and she is impressed with Wally, of course, not Eddie.

Later, she calls up Wally and then has her mother call up the Cleavers, all trying to get Wally to take her to the dance. June makes the arrangement, which infuriates Wally, and justifiably so.

It winds up to be an interesting story and - surprise - Eddie actually turns out to be a good guy in the end, something that didn't happen much in future episodes. He even confides in Beaver.
