- June Cleaver: I have to leave the first thing Saturday morning.
- Ward Cleaver: Huh?
- June Cleaver: Peggy had her baby.
- Ward Cleaver: [he seems happy for her] Oh. Boy?
- June Cleaver: Girl.
- Ward Cleaver: [his demeanour changes significantly to disappointment] Oh.
- Wally Cleaver: Do you have to go away?
- June Cleaver: Yes, Dear, I'm afraid I do, you see, my sister Peggy had a baby. Isn't that a wonderful surprise?
- Wally Cleaver: But Mom, if you're gonna be gone, who's gonna take care of me and The Beaver?
- June Cleaver: Your Aunt Martha's gonna come and stay with you.
- Wally Cleaver: Aunt Martha? Is she the one with the husband we're not s'posed to talk about?
- June Cleaver: No. That's one of your father's relatives.
- Theodore 'Beaver' Cleaver: Is Aunt Martha the one that sends the soap every Christmas?
- Ward Cleaver: Oh, no. Aunt Martha understands boys better than that. She sends umbrellas.
- Wally Cleaver: Oh, yeah, she's our Umbrella Aunt.
- Theodore 'Beaver' Cleaver: I remember her. She has birds on her hat.
- Ward Cleaver: [chuckling] That's right.
- [Ward and the boys laugh it up, while June simmers]
- June Cleaver: Would you boys take your plates out in the kitchen, please?
- Wally Cleaver: OK, Mom.
- Theodore 'Beaver' Cleaver: [sensing his mother is miffed, he pauses on his way out] They're nice birds, though.
