The Payment (8 May 1960)

Ron Fallon, a man with a fast gun reputation, needs to deliver $6,000 to repay an old debt. With a crippled gun hand, he asks Troop's help delivering it before he is gunned down by his old partner's son.

Storyline

Gunfighter Ron Fallon is challenged by a man and his two companions while in the Birdcage. Due to his reputation and intervention by Troop they back down. Troop notices that Fallon's gun hand is severely injured. Fallon asks Troop to do him a favor. He asks Troop to accompany him while he visits Judith Manning to give her $6,000 saying it is her husband's share of a business. Her son David seeing Fallon refuses the money and says he will kill Fallon for killing his dad. Troop intervenes and takes David's gun. Fallon and Troop return to Laramie where one of the three men learns Fallon's hand is injured and tells the others as David arrives asking to buy a gun from them. They give him the gun and he challenges Fallon to a duel but Fallon refuses leading to a gunfight involving all six men. Fallon and Troop take out the three men but David goes to Fallon's room to challenge him directly. David takes a shot at Fallon and Fallon tells him he missed but he didn't.
