Storyline

Marshal Troop receives a letter from Ward Beech, a friend, stating he is being held in Socorro, New Mexico for a murder committed on the same day he was in jail in Laramie sleeping off a drunk. When the marshal at Socorro telegraphs back that he has never heard of Ward Beech, Troop decides to go to Socorro himself. After he arrives and starts questioning people, he finds no cooperation but several indications that people are lying and covering up the true facts. The man supposedly killed is said to have moved to Arizona by his ex-employer a rancher who runs the community. The only witness who finally recalls the truth is the city drunk who was jailed with Beech and mailed the letter for him. When the local marshal refuses to take action, Troop decides to arrest the father/son involved in the murder and cover up but he is out gunned. Written by Anonymous

Goofs

During the climax he is clean shaved (except for his mustache) and wearing a dark, checkered shirt....however, moments later, in the final scene, when Dan rides out of Bentham's ranch he is back to being unshaven and wearing the same light shirt he did when he arrived in town.
