- With the help of local law in Saratoga, Dan captures a man wanted to testify. On the stage ride back to Laramie the driver exhibits plague-like symptoms and the only doctor available is a falling down drunk, who is also wanted to testify.
- Troop is in Saratoga to pick up Will Evans and Alexander Burrell, a drunk, to testify in Laramie. The local law helps capture Evans at the hotel 15 minutes before the stage leaves. Troop takes Evans and Burrell on the stage plus Evan's lawyer and Cissy Lawson is a fifth passenger. The stage driver becomes seriously ill as they arrive at a depot to change horses. When he collapses, Troop assumes heat is the problem. Burrell surprises everyone with an offer to examine the driver since he is a doctor. After the examination he informs Troop they need to stay there for a minimum of four days as he thinks the driver has plague. Cissy meeting a future husband at Laramie and the lawyer don't want to wait. Evans wants to escape. The hallucinating driver runs off forcing Troop to go after him leaving Burrell with a gun to hold the group. After Troop leaves, Evans knocks the gun loose and Cissy uses it to break his handcuffs. Troop returns to report the driver dead and is able to distract Evans by telling him he is showing signs of the illness. After waiting, the rest of the group arrives in Laramie safe and well.—Anonymous
- Dan escorts a reluctant witness in a trial back to Laramie with an interesting group of characters joining him and the witness- the witness' lawyer, a bargirl, and a drunken doctor. By the time they get to a waystation, the stage driver collapses, and it diagnosed by the doctor with the plague.
