A popular newspaperman is killed at a wedding. Because of the circumstances surrounding the killing, Troop suspects that it was a case of mistaken identity. But which one of the respectable townsmen is holding a grudge and against whom?

Several friends are celebrating the marriage of Lily to Big Hat Anderson. When Harry Tate decides to leave, Big Hat gives him his signature hat. Harry is shot and killed as he leaves the saloon. Harry's daughter, Julie, arrives in Laramie after his funeral and is upset with Marshal Troop for not arresting her father's killer. Troop suspects the highly respected local gunsmith Frank Slater. After talking to Lily he learns that Frank had also proposed to Lily. When Lily confronts Frank about the issue, Frank tries to kill Lily. Written by Anonymous
