Ches Ryan, running from a bank robbery, comes upon a cabin with two children suffering from a plague. With Troop about to catch up, he stays to help but Troop gets sick too. He must now decide what's important: money or his three patients.

Marshal Troop rides into Laramie exhausted just as the bank is held up and the robber rides past Troop. He goes alone after the robber and catches up with him. However, the robber, Ches Ryan, shoots Troop's horse leaving Troop to continue on foot until Johnny catches up and Troop takes his horse. Ches arrives at a cabin and intends to trade horses as his is injured but he finds a girl and her younger brother alone sick from a plague that has hit the community. He goes for a doctor but is told there is no help available so he stays to tend to them. Troop arrives and helps until he too comes down with the plague. When he awakens from it after 2-3 days, he finds both the kids and Ches still there tending to him. Written by Anonymous
