Storyline

On a stormy night Dan joins Johnny as the only Birdcage customers. Lily notices a book and opens it to the bookmark - the poem "Porphyria's Lover" by Browning. She asks who it belongs to and saloon girl Eve says it is hers. Lily tells Eve she never wants to see it again. When Dan asks about it, Lily says it was the favorite poem of a boy Galt Stevens she knew who killed another suitor. Lily's testimony sent him to prison for life. That night she wakes to see Galt standing over her bed. At breakfast a note on her tray about the poem further upsets her. After the storm Johnny and Troop with Dave's help check the town. After the telegraph is fixed, a late message states Galt escaped prison. When he kidnaps Lily, Dan has to resort to the poem to save Lily. Written by Anonymous
